Temporary Foreign Worker Program
The Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program allows Canadian employers to hire foreign workers to fill temporary jobs when there is a lack of qualified Canadians that can fill the position. Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), through Service Canada, assesses applications from employers requesting permission to hire temporary foreign workers and conducts what is called a “Labour Market Impact Assessment” to determine what impact these workers would have on the Canadian labour market.
Anything related to the job market and proving their need for foreign employees is the employer’s responsibility. The responsibility of the foreign national is the proof of credentials needed for the occupation being offered.
