Study Permits

A study permit is a written authorization that allows a foreign national to pursue academic, professional, vocational, or other education or training in Canada for a period of more than six months at a designated learning institute (DLI). A designated learning institution is a post-secondary institution that has been approved by the provincial or territorial ministry of education and has been assigned a unique number. This study permit is valid for 90 days following graduation.

No study permit is required if the duration of the short-term course or program is less than six months as the course can be completed on a temporary resident visa.
